A recently released w!ldlife investigation has provided additional information about the incident involving 33-year-old Florida hiker A. P0ll!o, who lost his l!fe during a solo hike in Glacier Nat!onal Park, Montana, earlier this year.
The report, prepared by w!ldlife specialists, examines the circumstances surrounding the encounter and outlines what investigators believe happened based on evidence collected at the scene. Officials emphasize that incidents of this nature remain uncommon and that the park continues to be home to a healthy population of w!ld gr!zzl!es.
Investigation Findings
According to the report, P0ll!o was hiking alone on the evening of May 3 when he unexpectedly came into close proximity with an adult male gr!zzly along an overlook trail.
W!ldlife experts believe the an!mal reacted defensively after the unexpected encounter. The report notes that P0ll!o used b3ar spray during the initial moments of the incident. Investigators say he then moved down a steep slope in an apparent attempt to create distance between himself and the an!mal.
Based on the available evidence, the investigation concluded that the encounter was relatively short in duration rather than prolonged.
Environmental Conditions
The report also highlights several environmental factors that may have contributed to the encounter.
